Artisan workshops represent a distinguished feature of the Old Town in Genoa that has been there since the Middle Ages, when some craft guilds developed here and it is still reflected in the current name of many alleyways. There are also tiny laboratories with tools of the trade where skilful artisans continue the ancient traditions in an era overpowered by technology.
We will stroll throughout a maze of narrow backstreets that only locals and lovers usually venture to and visit small laboratories that otherwise it would be difficult to find or have access to. From workshop to workshop, I will tell you about the history of craftsmen in Genoa, we will meet some artisans face-to-face where we can admire their ability while they work and hear their fascinating stories as we chat with them. Restorers, silversmiths, ceramists, lute-makers, chocolate makers, herbalists, barbers, glass makers, cork masters and many more carry forward ancient traditions, with passion, dedication and technique and they will be pleased to welcome you in their workshops for a fist-hand experience and a more in depth look into the heart of the city.
